Project challenges

Since the end of 2018, major works have been launched by the Société d'exploitation de la tour Eiffel to renovate the elevator on the monument's north pillar. For this project, Eiffage Métal, in a consortium with Baudin Châteauneuf, was tasked with making the elevator more efficient, more reliable and compliant with current quality and safety standards.

The entire installation was renewed on the same principles as the existing one, with all the modernity offered by new control-command systems. With its unique electrical mechanism and variable slope adapted to the architecture of the Iron Lady, the North Pillar elevator is a genuine prototype requiring highly specialized technical expertise.
