Occupational Health and Safety: Our Priority
Workplace Safety
At Eiffage Génie Civil, safety is not a constraint, but a mindset that is reflected in our shared practices and principles, which are inseparable from the Eiffage Culture. To achieve our goal of 100% Safety, we rely on clear principles and concrete actions:
- Ensuring people’s safety: Protecting every individual working on our job sites and facilities is our daily priority.
- Anticipating and preventing risks: Proactively identifying potential hazards to neutralize them before they occur.
- Informing and training employees: Ensuring a full understanding of the risks associated with each activity and the corresponding preventive measures.
- Analyzing accidents and incidents and sharing lessons learned: Learning from every event, particularly those with a high potential for severity, to prevent their recurrence and normalization. Sharing these lessons during debriefing sessions among operational staf
Our 20 Core Safety Requirements
These 20 essential rules form the foundation of our safety culture. They apply without exception to all Eiffage Génie Civil employees at all our sites, as well as to all external personnel. They are essential for effectively managing our risks.
Safety Leadership
Safety Leadership embodies the ability of every individual, regardless of their position in the organization, to lead by example and positively influence safety behaviors. Beyond mere regulatory compliance, we are guided by a proactive approach to risk prevention. This approach strengthens our safety culture and reinforces Safety Leadership at every level of the company.
Setting an Example Every Day
To support this Safety Leadership and empower everyone to take an active role, we provide tools and methods that strengthen our collective and individual safety.
- Shared vigilance and feedback
- Active promotion of best practices
- Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
I look out for you, you look out for me
Each of us has the right and the duty to speak up if we detect a risk, regardless of our position or role, to ensure that risk is eliminated immediately. Shared vigilance is based on simple actions:
- OBSERVE: Be attentive to your surroundings and adapt your response.
- SPEAK UP – SPEAK CLEARLY: Raise the alarm in a considerate manner, without aggression, and clearly describe the risk.
- ACCEPT: Thank the colleague for their observation.
Preventing Accidents and Saving Lives
On our job sites, the STOP & GO procedure allows us to halt a hazardous situation. Work can resume once the situation has been analyzed and addressed.
- STOP work
- ANALYZE the situation
- RESUME after a GO
Supporting New Employees
All employees, including temporary workers, with less than 6 months of experience on a construction site must wear a blue hard hat.
This policy helps new employees settle in, makes them easily identifiable, and ensures they receive special attention and appropriate support.
Temporary Worker Safety Passport: Pasi BTP®
Recognizing the heightened vulnerability of temporary workers, Eiffage Génie Civil has adopted the Temporary Worker Safety Passport (Pasi BTP®).
This essential program certifies that a temporary worker has successfully completed practical training in the fundamentals of safety.
- For the temporary worker, this training enables them to fully understand the specific risks on our job sites and facilities, and to better manage them.
- For temporary staffing agencies, it is a major asset for safely assigning their employees.
- For Eiffage Génie Civil, it represents another step toward “zero accidents.”
Occupational Health: A Long-Term Vision
At Eiffage Génie Civil, occupational health is a comprehensive commitment aimed at safeguarding the physical, mental, and social well-being of our employees over the long term. Beyond mere accident prevention, our approach focuses on reducing the long-term effects associated with working conditions and repeated exposure, which can lead, in particular, to occupational illnesses.
We implement a proactive approach to:
- Anticipate and reduce exposure to risks (chemical, physical, psychosocial)
- Adapt working conditions to create a healthy and fulfilling environment.
- Prevent occupational illnesses and promote continued employment.
A network of safety officers: guardians of safety
At every level of the organization, our safety officers propose and implement safety initiatives in close collaboration with operational staff and ensure that rules are followed. They form an essential network for disseminating information, analyzing incidents, and sharing best practices.
